Vitamin B-6 or Pyridoxine is one of the most versatile enzyme cofactors. It is the master vitamin in the processing of amino acids, which are the building blocks of all proteins and some hormones. It works synergistically in this formulation to facilitate rapid absorption in the blood stream. Vitamin B-6 is also important for nerve impulse transmission, and is critical in the formation of neurotransmitters that effect mental processes and enhance mood.

Niacin or Vitamin B-3 assists in the breakdown and utilization of fats, proteins, and carbohydrates. Niacin also reduces serum lipids, is involved in the synthesis of sex hormones, and increases blood circulation.

Yohimbe Bark Extract has been available by a prescription in pill form since its approval by the FDA for impotence. Recently it has become popularized as an over the counter sexual stimulant. The active ingredient of yohimbe bark is an alkaloid monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor that blocks adrenergic receptors. This causes a dilation of blood vessels, particularly in the penis. A combined analysis of over a dozen scientific studies published in the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, August 1996, concluded that yohimbe improves sexual performance.

Panax Ginseng Extract has a reputation as an aphrodisiac and for good reason. Researchers note the herb stimulates the central nervous system. In addition, ginseng contains phytochemicals that lessen fatigue and increase stamina. A study published in the journal British Pharmacology, May 1995, concluded that substances in ginseng extract known as ginsenosides work in a similar way as Viagra in enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, which helps relax artery walls, allowing more blood flow into the penis.

L-Phenylalanine is a precursor to tyrosine, which converts to the neurotransmitters norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine, and tyramine. L-Arginine is an essential amino acid and plays a multiplicity of roles in the body. Aside from bolstering the immune system, increasing human growth hormones, and helping remove excess ammonia from the body, it is also needed to increase protein synthesis. Dilation of blood vessels critical for firm erections is dependent on nitric oxide. L-arginine aids in nitric oxide formation.
